Why is the camera window blank/black?
There could be several reasons. If we are closed, there's nothing to see! It could also be that you don't have a "version 4" web browser.

Why does the camera image say "Click refresh or reload"?
If the screen is black, either we aren't transmitting or something is preventing you from receiving the image. If we are closed, there's nothing to see! It could also be that you don't have a "version 4" web browser.

If you receive this message while using an Apple computer, but you can still see the images, you are seeing a bug in the camera software. We have informed the camera software company and they have confirmed this is a bug. You don't need to do anything. The camera should work fine for you despite this message.

My camera window was working fine then it just stopped! What happened?
It could be that a lot of other people just connected to the camera, but usually that will only slow it down. If it seems to be stopped for a long time (more than 10 or 15 seconds), then we may have had to disconnect you temporarily while we fix something on the system. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to let you know if we need to do this. Try reopening the camera window from the Doggy Cam page. If that doesn't work, please let us know!

Why is the camera running so slowly?
"Slowly" is a relative term. Most of the time the amount of information that has to be transmitted to display video is very large, and standard phone lines and a 56K modem still struggle to process all of the data. It's like trying to route the entire Mississippi River through the plumbing in your house! It just doesn't fit, but we do our best!

The speed of the video will improve as your connection speed improves. People with a DSL, cable modem, or other high-speed connection can receive as many as 5 frames per second.

What web browser version do I need?
It doesn't matter what brand of web browser you use (Internet Explorer, Firefox, WebTV, etc.), but the camera is a Java applet that needs a version 4 web browser or later. If it isn't working for you and you don't have a version 4 web browser or later, please consider upgrading your web browser.

Do I need any plug-ins for my browser like Real Player or Quicktime?
No. The software uses a Java applet for the viewer. This applet is automatically downloaded and started when you open a camera page.

Can I adjust the image at all?
Yes. If you place your mouse over the image, a picture of a camera and the "iVista" icon will appear in the lower left corner of the image. Press the "iVista" logo. It will open up a control panel that allows you to control the brightness, contrast, and image compression.

How can I reload or refresh the camera window?
In general, you shouldn't have to. If something goes awry, though, the only way to reload or refresh the camera window is to close the camera window and reopen it from the Doggy Cam page.
